Consciousness
What are the producers of consciousness?
Are we vessels for the evolution and proliferation of psychological states?
Through the transmission of a chaotic system that uses the process of imitation and invented patterns, I explore, transform and restructure space.
The system I have chosen to use is expanding foam. I sculpt this material to suggest a correlation between the perception of reality and a psychological imprinted mental expression.
Artist
Robert Donkor is an artist born in Chorley and living in Preston Lancashire. He studied at the University of Central Lancashire under the tutors, Barry Migdley, Charles Quick, Ann Murry, Lubaina Himid and Susan Walch. He will be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to develop under the guidance of these excellent people.
The romantic and sublime paintings of John Martin, especially those relating to John Milton's poems Paradise Lost, gave a platform to use a post-modernist approach and mix the visual forms of classical painting, with the graphic qualities of record albums and comic book covers.
The text of classical prose and comic book captions are also an influence when building sculptures.
These at first are abstract, but when completed take on the language of assemblage.

"In them devine resemblance, and such grace the hand that formd them on thir shape hath pourd. Ah gentle pair, yee little think how nigh Your change approaches, when all these delights will vanish and deliver ye to woe,..." John Martin.

So heavy the shade
but yet as seen entwined
or merely gathering
an imperfect concept unified in use.

The pure produced by the empty negative
as the dark enhance the boarders
extending the significant with insufficient evidence
